She is one of the small number of child stars who successfully transitioned to both adolescent roles and leading actress roles. Some of her movies include: Love With The Proper Stranger (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), West Side Story, The Searchers, Rebel Without A Cause (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Miracle on 34th Street, The Great Race, and Splendor In The Grass (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film). Tragically, she died under suspicious circumstances in 1981 in a drowning incident. She was 43 years old. About the Collection this Item Comes From Note that this item (and 37 others we are auctioning this week, each in its own auction) was consigned to us by a man who was a major movie memorabilia dealer from the 1980s on. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items, and over the years he did not re-sell any of the autographed items. Now he has gathered up together all of his autographed items and consigned them to us. So all of these 38 autographed items we are auctioning were purchased by this dealer from longtime dealers and collectors, and we feel it is quite likely that the autograph on this item is authentic!
