An Original 1964 (from the first release of this movie in the Czech Republic) Vintage Theatrical Folded Czechoslovakian Movie Poster (measures 22 1/4" x 32 1/4" [57 x 82 cm]) (Learn More) The Misfits, the 1961 John Huston modern-day romantic cowboy western ("It shouts and sings with life... explodes with love!"; "Never again will the screen hold such excitement!"; "The world's greatest photographers shoot 'the Misfits'!"; with a screenplay by Arthur Miller) starring Clark Gable (in his last film), Marilyn Monroe (in her last completed film), Montgomery Clift, Thelma Ritter, Eli Wallach, and James Barton (in his last film). Note that Arthur Miller was at the time married to Monroe, but the marriage fell apart during filming. He began to see Inge Morath, a photographer documenting production of this film, and she later became his third and final wife. Also note that Clark Gable went on a crash diet before production started, losing 35 pounds. His health was already precarious, and he hated working with Marilyn Monroe, who could not remember her lines and did not show up on time, which aggravated his condition, and he suffered from a coronary thrombosis the day after shooting finished, dying ten days later. Schlosser Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Note that Czech posters are similar to Polish posters, in that they often have wild completely different designs (sometimes unrelated to the movies!), but they are different from Polish posters in two important ways. One is that they come in two sizes, a small one that measures approximately 11x16, and a larger size that measures approximately 23x33 (the same as older Polish posters). The other is that the larger size has always been FAR more difficult to obtain than Polish posters! However, we have just been consigned a wonderful collection of 39 larger Czech posters (assembled over many years by a very advanced collector), and we are currently auctioning them in 39 separate auctions. This is an extremely rare opportunity to obtain many of the best Czech posters, in the larger size! Condition: very good. The poster has a few tiny creases and tears in portions of the edges and a few slightly larger ones at left (see our image).
