An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Watchdog, the 1939 Connie Rasinski Terrytoon canine bunny farm family comedy animated animation cartoon short ("Produced by Paul Terry"). Note that this is a 1939 stock poster used by theaters that showed Terrytoons. Note that the part of the poster that was not intended for a specific cartoon includes images of some of Paul Terry's earlier cartoon characters including Gandy Goose, and a cool two-headed giant, and that this specific stock poster has been overprinted with a great image from "The Watchdog"! Paul Terry created a different "stock" poster for each year from 1937 through 1940 (there may have been ones from earlier or later years, but we have never encountered them). Each had a completely different great image, showing many of his top cartoon stars of that year, and there was a blank center area in each poster. After the posters were initially printed, they would overprint a group of the posters with a title of a particular cartoon from that year, and ALSO usually add a single-color image from that cartoon (unusual for stock cartoon posters), and then they would print another group of the posters with a different cartoon title and image, and so on. This particular poster WAS overprinted with a specific title (most of the ones we have seen WERE overprinted). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had very minor fold wear and a few small tears in the upper right blank border. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking.
