Note that Astor Pictures, which had been known for mostly re-releasing classic U.S. movies in the 1940s and 1950s, acquired the rights for the first American release of this classic Italian movie, which they released on April 19, 1961. Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had a long irregular diagonal tear running from the bottom of the "L" of "DOLCE" at top center, to the edge of Ekberg's shoulder. There was a large semi-circular area of paper loss in the right of the bottom border that affected only the background and the side of the peacock logo. There was tiny paper loss at some crossfolds and small tears on parts of some foldlines. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed onto a thin linen, and at some point after it was backed, the top right corner of the linen and the poster received a diagonal crease that extends into the top right of the poster (see our image for the exact nature of the above defects).
