An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Still (Learn More) The Rough Riders, the 1927 Victor Fleming silent Spanish-American War Cuba historical biographical military action adventure thriller ("A Victor Fleming Production"; "'You can't call a man a coward - if he dies trying!'"; "Based on the story by Hermann Hagedorn"; about the equestrian military unit organized by future U.S. President Teddy Roosevelt and its adventures in Cuba during the Spanish-American War of 1898) starring Noah Beery Sr., Charles Farrell, George Bancroft, Charles Emmett Mack, Mary Astor, and Frank Hopper (as Theodore Roosevelt). Note that co-star Charles Emmett Mack had incredibly bad luck in being killed in a car crash the day after this movie had its premiere! Bizarrely, he had only appeared in eleven movies prior to this one, and almost every one (including this one), his character was killed during the movie! Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving complete copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that a paper snipe was glued to the back of the still, and then folded over to the front. This was done rather than gluing the snipe to the back, so that the snipe could be unfolded and the still could be displayed with the snipe unfolded, which would let moviegoers read the information on the snipe in the lobby (and of course, the snipe would be folded backwards, so it would not show). This was done with many stills of the 1930s, but often, the snipes are either partially or completely lost, because it is easier for them to be torn off. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE SNIPE DOES NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THE FRONT OF THE STILL! Condition: very good to fine. There are faint emulsion scuffs scattered throughout the still, but they are truthfully not very noticeable except when the still is tilted to the light. Learn More about condition grades
