An Original 1963 (from the first release of this movie in France) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 45" x 61 1/4" [114 x 156 cm]) (Learn More) Seppuku (released in English-speaking countries as "Harakiri"), the 1962 Masaki Kobayashi Japanese Samurai ritual suicide melodrama ("The world has never understood why the Japanese prefer death to dishonor!"; "Winner of Prix Special du Jury at Cannes 1963 provides the answer!!") starring Tatsuya Nakadai, Shima Iwashita, Akira Ishihama, Yoshio Inaba, Rentaro Mikuni, Masao Mishima, Tetsuro Tamba, Ichiro Nakaya, and Yoshio Aoki Artist: Sinclare Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had small paper loss at some crossfolds and some creases, tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of some foldlines and some scuffs in the solid black areas. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, but it is lightly rippled throughout and does not lay completely flat (perhaps it is because it was cut from the stretcher too soon, or because it happened over time).
