An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Fountainhead, the 1949 King Vidor romantic love triangle philosophical principles architecture Objectivism melodrama ("Monumental best-seller! Towering screen triumph!"; "'Nobody takes what's mine!'"; "A picture to remember from Warner Bros."; "Warner Bros.' Towering Triumph"; "No man takes what's mine!"; "The great best seller made greater on the screen by Warner Bros."; "Screen Play by Ayn Rand from her Novel 'The Fountainhead'"; about a dedicated architect who refuses to compromise his principles, regardless of the cost; amazingly, Rand managed to keep much of the essence of her very wordy novel on screen; Rand herself picked Gary Cooper for the lead, and he had a serious affair with his much younger co-star Patricia Neal) starring Gary Cooper (as Howard Roark; "This is his role of roles!"), Patricia Neal (as Dominique Francon), Raymond Massey (as Gail Wynand), Kent Smith (as Peter Keating), Robert Douglas (as Ellsworth Toohey), Henry Hull (as Henry Cameron), Ray Collins (as Roger Enright), and Jerome Cowan (as Alvah Scarret) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that posters from this movie are very difficult to find! It is surely because most of those posters have been purchased by people who are fans of Ayn Rand, and they remove the poster from the hobby (the particular poster offered here was purchased many years ago by a man as a gift for his architect father). It has been 8 years since we last auctioned another example of this poster, and it may be an equal number of years before we auction another! Condition: very good. Note that the poster was folded in half an extra time (not actually "in half", as the extra fold is slightly off-center, as can be seen in our image of this poster). Other than this extra fold, the poster is in really nice condition. There are some light creases throughout the poster (caused by handling, and there is tiny separation at the bottom crossfold), but otherwise the poster has barely aged at all! I would think just about any collector would be quite happy to display this great poster just as it is, and of course, any talented restorer could simply linenback it, and the extra folds and the faint creases would disappear, and the poster would look "perfect"!
