the 1956 double-bill release of Ernest Hemingway's The Killers, the 1946 Robert Siodmak (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award) crime film noir ("From the story by Ernest Hemingway"; "Produced by Mark Hellinger"; "It's told the untamed Hemingway way!"; "Tense! Taut! Terrific!"; the screenwriter, Anthony Veiller, came up with a "prequel" to the classic short story, and he devised a very interesting and very believable back-story that would explain the actions of the characters in Hemingway's story) starring Burt Lancaster (in his first screen role; billed as "introducing Burt Lancaster"), Ava Gardner, Edmond O'Brien, Albert Dekker, Sam Levene, Charles D. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: poor to fair. The poster had paper loss in Lancaster's fingers and many smudges and scuffs throughout the image, with some paper loss scattered down the left edge. Overall, the poster was in poor to fair condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
