An Original 1959 Vintage Theatrical Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 39 1/2" x 81" [100 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) A Night to Remember (released in Poland as "S.O.S. Titanic"), the classic 1958 (released in the U.S. in 1959) Roy Ward Baker English sinking ship disaster thriller ("Titanic ... in spectacle... realism!"; "Unforgettable! Breathtaking! Brilliant!"; "Told as it really happened"; "A new motion picture never before seen on screen or television"; "Titanic... The greatest sea-drama in living memory"; "The Rank Organisation presents with pride Kenneth More in A Night To Remember"; "From the book by Walter Lord"; about the sinking of the Titanic, the James Cameron "Titanic" borrowed heavily from this movie; Screenplay by Eric Ambler) starring Kenneth More, Ronald Allen, Robert Ayres, Honor Blackman, Anthony Bushell, and James Dyrenforth. Note that the recent discovery that the Titanic broke into three pieces and not two casts severe doubt on the sequence of events of the sinking as portrayed in this movie and several others. It now seems far more likely that the ship sank in a very short period of time, and that the passengers had little chance to perform any of the things they are shown doing in the various movie adaptations of this tragic event! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: John Floherty Jr. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this three-sheet, and they sold for $727 and $568! Note that this is a very unusual poster! It was printed in Italy (as noted at the bottom left of the poster), but it is entirely in English. We know that there was also a lobby card set printed in Italy that is in English, and we have assumed that those cards were used in England (and there are other movies from this period where there are Italian lobby cards printed in English). But what makes this poster so unusual is that it has artwork very similar to that from the U.S. one-sheet for this movie, NOT the English one-sheet, so we would think that makes this a three-sheet designed to be used in the U.S. But the dimensions are that of the English three-sheet, so maybe it was made to be used in both countries! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that this poster measures 39 1/2" x 80" [100 x 203 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Also note that this three-sheet was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Condition: good to very good. There are pinholes around the edges and small paper loss in the bottom left of the top section, but solely blank white paper is affected. There is some darkening on the back of the part of the poster that was on the outside when it was fully folded. There are some creases and several tears along the folds that were on the outside when the poster was fully folded. There are some creases, smudges, and tiny tears on some folds, and some tiny paper loss at some crossfolds. Learn More about condition grades
