An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Key Book Still (Learn More)

The New Spirit, the 1942 Walt Disney animation animated cartoon World War II (WWII) propaganda documentary comedy short ("Distributed under the auspices of the War Activities Committee of the Motion Pictures Industry"; about filing federal income taxes; one of the series of documentary cartoons from The War Activities Committee, and created by Walt Disney Studios) featuring the voices of Clarence Nash (as Donald Duck), Cliff Edwards, Fred Shields, and The Sportsmen Quartet. Note that this cartoon was intended to "convince Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayer that they can, and should, pay Uncle Sam this year with a grin", and because it was made after the U.S. entered World War II, it used Nazi images to explain that this new income tax would go towards buying munitions to be used against the Axis countries, and that made Donald's anger turn into happiness as he had "happy visions of Germans, Japs, and Italians being bombed by what his money bought". The cartoon ends with "Donald convinced that prompt income tax payment IS the finest service he can give his Uncle Sam"!

Important Added Info: Note that this wonderful still shows the "Axis Monster", which the government conceived to show taxpayers how their tax money was being used "to destroy the Nazi fiend". Some cynical people might say that the Internal Revenue Department itself has turned into a "Tax Monster", sucking up over one quarter of what everyone earns! Note that this item is in eMoviePoster.com's special "all animation" auction! The idea for this auction began when we were consigned a remarkable collection of original 1940s Walt Disney pressbooks, mini lobby cards, and standees (and almost all of those are extremely rare ones that are hardly ever auctioned, and they almost all are in really nice condition). Once we knew we had those items, we contacted all our past consignors, and asked them to consign to this very special auction, and they REALLY came through, consigning a wonderful assortment of cartoon movie paper of all sorts. Buying from this special auction gives you an incredibly rare opportunity to obtain some of the finest cartoon animation movie paper we have ever seen, and all of them will have new owners when these auctions close, because all start at $1 with no reserve. Many of these items will likely not be auctioned again for many years to come! Also note that this still is a key book still, mounted to a linen backing. Many studios spent extra money o have their most special photos, the key book stills, either backed with linen or printed on a heavy paper, both of which enhanced their durability. They had an extra 1" at the left or top, with punch holes, because of how they were stored. Key book stills are far more rare than regular stills, which has increased their popularity among collectors, since only a few keybooks were manufactured per film, and a key book still is guaranteed to be authentic. Someone trimmed away the extra 1" from the left or top of the still.

Condition: very good. The left 1" was neatly trimmed off (see above). There is faint scuffing in the far left and far right of the middle of the image, but it is mostly only noticeable when the still is tilted to the light. Otherwise, the still is in nice condition!
