This comic was one of the many imitators of the hugely successful Crime Does Not Pay comics, which had a circulation of more than two million monthly by 1947. Unlike the crime comics that inspired it, Gang Busters did not die with the Comic Code, but continued for a number of years, likely because of DC Comics' influence with the Comic Code Authority.
