The Gaucho, the 1927 F. Richard Jones silent romantic south-of-the-border crime adventure religious melodrama ("The peerless 'Doug' in his fastest moving picture"; Fairbanks is an outlaw who lives by a shrine to the Madonna, and after religious people come to the shrine and leave offerings, he plans to steals the money, but he falls for Lupe Velez, and, after the Madonna herself appears to him in a vision [cleverly played in an unbilled cameo by his wife, the angelic Mary Pickford!], Fairbanks undergoes a religious conversion, and stops his life of crime!) starring Douglas Fairbanks Sr. (in the title role "as The Gaucho"), Lupe Velez, Joan Barclay, Eve Southern, Gustav von Seyffertitz, and Mary Pickford (in an unbilled cameo role!)

Important Added Info: Note that we previously auctioned a program that was distributed at the world premiere of this movie at the world's famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre on November 4, 1927. That one described the events at the premiere (which included the cast appearing in person). THIS program is also from the Grauman's Chinese Theatre, but it was the one that was used when it played there after the world premiere (it has the name of the theater printed on the back, together with "World's Most Beautiful Temple of Cinema Art").
