Phantom of the Opera, the 1943 Arthur Lubin Universal musical horror thriller ("The Screen's Classic of Terror!"; based on the classic novel by Gaston Leroux, and a remake of the silent classic featuring Lon Chaney Sr.) starring Nelson Eddy, Susanna Foster (as Christine), Claude Rains (in the title role as Erique Claudin, the Phantom of the Opera), Edgar Barrier (as Raoul), Leo Carrillo, Jane Farrar, J. Edward Bromberg, Fritz Feld, Hume Cronyn, and "a cast of thousands"!

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The window card had a blank top that was trimmed off and the right 1" was trimmed off as well. There was a diagonal tear in the top left corner and many creases, tears, and tiny areas of paper loss around the edges of the card, with some smudges and scuffs within the image. Overall, the window card was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that the restorer chose to linenback this window card, rather than the usual paperbacking, and they left an excess 1" all around the edges.
