An Original Vintage Theatrical Style B Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 21 1/2" x 28" [55 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (released in Mexico as "The Body Snatchers"), the classic 1956 Don Siegel science fiction (sci-fi) horror alien invasion romantic thriller ("Walter Wanger creates the ultimate in science-fiction!"; "They come from another world!"; "Incredible! Invisible! Insatiable!"; "Something is happening! Send your men of science quick! The panic stricken cry went over the phone to Washington D. C. until the lines went dead!......."; "Colliers's Magazine called it 'The nightmare that threatens the world!'"; "Based on the Collier's Magazine Serial by Jack Finney"; about aliens invading Earth by replacing people with alien counterparts that grow as pods, and then take over the person's identity when the person falls asleep; one by one, a town is taken over, and the few remaining unaffected people try to stop them and get the word out, but they are stopped at every turn; most people see this as a thinly veiled parable of the activities of the House Un-American Activities Committee, which found "Communists" behind every door in Hollywood!; others protest that it greatly borrowed the plot of Robert A. Heinlein's "The Puppet Masters", which had been written five years before; ironically, when The Puppet Masters finally came to the screen in 1994, it was criticized for being a rip-off of this movie!) starring Kevin McCarthy, Dana Wynter ("Sensational star discovery of 'The View From Pompey's Head' ... Dana Wynter in the year's most startling role!"), Larry Gates, King Donovan, Carolyn Jones, Jean Willes, and Ralph Dumke NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the ad campaign for this classic movie was pretty uninspired, and just about every first release U.S. poster had an image of McCarthy and Wynter running, with a giant hand print in the background. It was only for this style B half-sheet poster that a different image was created, which shows McCarthy, Wynter, and others caught in spotlights from the skies! Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 21 1/2" x 28" [55 x 71 cm]. Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. Very unusually for this poster, it is not at all faded (something about the specific reds they used for this poster caused it to fade after exposure to sunlight), and most examples we have seen of this poster have quite a bit of fading (unless they have been restored). BUT THIS POSTER HAS VERY BRIGHT COLORS! It had a 2" L-shaped tear in the lower right border, with a 1" tear near the bottom of the right border. Both tears had the slightest effect on the edge of the image. It had a pinhole in each corner and a few faint smudges and tiny creases in the blank borders. There was a faint scuff in the bottom center of the "B" of "BODY" in the title and a very few tiny scuffs scattered in the image. Someone had the poster glued to a heavy board, but no restoration was performed. They trimmed approximately 1/2" from the bottom blank border (no doubt to fit a frame), but only blank white paper was affected. This rare and desirable poster displays really well just as it is! Obviously, it can be framed and enjoyed. If the new owner preferred, they could have it removed from the heavy board and have the missing portion of the bottom blank border replaced, but either way, the new owner will have a sensational poster!
