(Learn More) Mitzi Gaynor (born Francesca Marlene de Czanyi von Gerber) was a mostly musical actress from the 1950s to the 1960s. Her mother was a dancer, and her father was a violinist and music director, and she definitely inherited all their talent! She moved to Hollywood when she was 11 and devoted herself to dancing and by 13, she was singing and dancing with the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera. At 17, she lied about her age and signed a 7 year contract with 20th Century-Fox. Some of her movies include: South Pacific, There's No Business Like Show Business, Les Girls, We're Not Married!, and The Joker Is Wild. In the mid 1950s, she stopped making movies and performed a lot on television, on awards shows, and also had a nightclub variety act. In the 1960s, she became a featured columnist for The Hollywood Reporter and had a stage show called The Mitzi Gaynor Show from the 1970s to the 1980s. In 2006, her husband of 52 years passed away, and Mitzi passed away in 2024 at the age of 93 Important Added Info: This magazine page has been personally autographed (signed) TWICE by Mitzi Gaynor (on the first page and on the interior 2-page spread of four pages that were removed from a digest magazine)! Our consignor is a dealer who has acquired many autographed items over many decades. He enjoys finding an item with a good image of that star to "pair" it with, so that the owner can frame the signed item together with the item with the good image. Included with the signed item is a half-sheet from 1957's "Les Girls". The items could be matted together to create a cool display! As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.
