An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) No Time for Comedy, the 1940 William Keighley romantic love triangle comedy ("Just can't make his smile behave!!"; "Can't make her Jimmy behave!!"; "There's something very funny going on here!"; "There was a shy fellow named James who knew nothing at all about dames till he met a Miss Russell... and after a tussle... he learned about women [he claims!]"; from the stage play by S.N. Behrman, with a screenplay by Julius J. & Philip G. Epstein) starring James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart), Rosalind Russell, Genevieve Tobin, Charles Ruggles, Allyn Joslyn, Clarence Kolb, and Louise Beavers. It seems very unusual to see James Stewart in a Warner Bros. movie, and it is! MGM loaned Stewart to Warner Bros. for this single movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. This poster was linenbacked, and it had fairly significant defects which were somewhat repaired during the linenbacking process (we describe both the defects as well as the quality of the restoration below). You should also look at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). there was a quarter-sized hole at the middle crossfold and a dime-sized hole at the bottom crossfold, and tiny paper loss at the top crossfold; there were two 3" horizontal tears in the upper center part of the image starting from the right of Stewart's credit running into the tagline box; there were pinholes in the corners and some tears and small areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster; there were a few extra creases and a couple of tiny tears on some foldlines. The poster was nicely linenbacked and the above defects were nicely corrected, although you can see slight signs of the restoration. Learn More about condition grades
