An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (measures 12 1/2" x 18 1/2"; yellow folder that contains an advertising section with 12 pages 12" x 17 3/4"; a publicity section with 12 pages 12" x 16"; a great sample "Return of Chandu" "mask" herald on heavy stock! 11" x 12") (Learn More) The Return of Chandu (The Magician), the 1934 Ray Taylor black magic fantasy horror serial sequel ("He's back! The Master of Magic and Thrills"; "with a Distinguished Cast") starring Bela Lugosi (in the title role as Chandu), Maria Alba, Murdock MacQuarrie, Phyllis Ludwig, and Clara Kimball Young. Note that Chandu the Magician was a radio show that started airing in Los Angeles in 1931, and went nationwide the following year. That was also when a movie adaptation, called Chandu the Magician, was made. Two years later, this sequel, The Return of Chandu, was made, and this time, Bela Lugosi played the lead role, after having a supporting role in the prequel. The show went off the air in 1936. It was revived in 1948 as a 15 minute show and ran for two years. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: fine. The pressbook is completely uncut! It has darkened somewhat with age, has extremely tiny chips from the left edge of the yellow folder, and is worn across the extreme top edge of the yellow folder, but is overall in really nice condition!
