Auction History Result #504 SUNNYSIDE 8 LCs R20s Charlie Chaplin Date Sold 3/26/2002Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 8 Undated (probably 1920s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Sunnyside, the 1919 Charles Chaplin multiple reel silent comedy short ("His Third Million Dollar Comedy"; "I'll never leave my dear old farm") starring Charlie Chaplin (Charles Chaplin), Edna Purviance, Tom Wilson (a large white man who specialized in playing black roles in the early silent days when studios were reluctant to hire African Americans; he would put burnt cork on his face and skin!; he appeared in The Kid, but not in a black role), Tom Terriss, Henry Bergman, Loyal Underwood, and Tom Wood (nicknamed "Fatty") NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is an early 1920s First National re-issue lobby card set. These re-issue lobby cards are often sold as originals, but they have a different border design from the original cards. The original 1919 cards are also on slightly lighter paper stock. I have owned complete sets of both cards, and I am 100% sure this set is from the 1920s re-issue, and that the other cards are the originals. Currently we are selling a single original 1919 Sunnyside lobby card elsewhere on eBay! Condition: fine. The cards have very slight darkening around the edges of the cards. Also some of the cards measure a fraction of a difference from each other, but none appear to have been trimmed.
