eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result n350 GI BLUES linen Japanese movie poster '60 Elvis Presley, Prowse Date Sold 9/26/2006Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Japanese Movie Poster (measures 20" x 28 1/2") (Learn More) G.I. Blues (GI Blues), the 1960 Norman Taurog rock 'n' roll (rock and roll) Army military romantic musical comedy ("Swing out and sound off with Elvis Presley in the red, white and blue star-bright show of the year!"; "Elvis scores... A singing triumph... And a romantic hit!"; "Written by Edmund Beloin and Henry Garson") starring Elvis Presley, Juliet Prowse, Robert Ivers, James Douglas, and Leticia Roman. Note that Elvis, unlike the vast majority of stars from the 1950s on, did not attempt to get out of his military service, and he went in to the army in 1958 (at the height of his popularity) and he got out two years later, and this was the first movie he made after returning (and naturally, he made a fictionalized version of his life in the military). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are slightly noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "Pre-Restoration Defects & Quality of Restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had creases, tears, and tiny areas of paper loss across the top foldline and a slightly lesser amount across the bottom foldline. Years ago, someone compounded this defect by putting small pieces of tape on the back of these two foldlines and also some pieces of tape on the back of the left border (mending tears). The pieces of tape bled through to the front. The person who backed the poster pretty much just backed it "as is", and therefore the bleed through from the tape stains is still visible. It is not that noticeable, except for one piece which falls over the face of Elvis in the small inset image. Please do not bid on this poster unless you have carefully looked at our super-sized image, and can accept the poster as it is, or are willing to pay for additional restoration!
