Copper on the trail! Shocker on the screen!"; "'You have a beautiful neck... to strangle!'"; "A Boston Blackie thriller... with a new twist! [a strangler]"; "Famous character of radio and fiction goes for a ride... in search of a maniacal murderer!") starring Chester Morris (in the title role as Boston Blackie), Nina Foch, Steve Cochran, Richard Lane, George E. Stone (as The Runt), Tom Kennedy, and Philip Van Zandt. Note that this is one of fourteen movies made in the 1940s with Chester Morris playing the fictional character "Boston Blackie", a former crook turned detective (there had been ten silent movies made in the 1920s), all of which were based on short stories by Jack Boyle.
