An Original 1928 Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Regine, Die Tragodie Einer Frau (released in the U.S. in 1928 as "Love is a Lie"), the 1927 Erich Waschneck (billed as "Eric Waschneck") German silent infidelity romantic melodrama ("Is a wife to blame?"; "A stirring dramatic story of married life") starring Lee Parry, Harry Liedtke, Vivian Gibson, Maria Reisenhofer, and Antoine Jaeckel. Note that a clever distributor bought the rights to this German movie, which featured German actress/singer Lee Parry, and marketed it in 1928 as if it were an American movie (only crediting Parry on the poster)! Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this one-sheet! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and minor fold wear. It had paper loss and tears in the "L" of "LIE" in the title and in the "g" below it. It also had a piece that was cut out and placed near the middle of the woman's dress by her legs, with a smaller similar area in the man's left leg. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
