An Original 1926 (from the first release of this movie in France) Vintage Theatrical Folded French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 47 1/4" x 62 3/4" [120 x 159 cm]) (Learn More) The Flaming Forties, the 1924 Tom Forman silent cowboy western (from the story 'Tennessee's Pardner' by Bret Harte; produced by Hunt Stromberg) starring Harry Carey Sr., William Bailey, Jacqueline Gadsden, Jim Mason, and Frank Norcross. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Rene Peron Important Added Info: Note that any European posters from 1920s American westerns are incredibly rare. No doubt this is partially due to the massive paper drives in Europe during World War II, but it also might be that American westerns did not "translate" as well to European audiences as other kinds of movies. Not only is this the only example of this poster we have ever auctioned (and we have only otherwise auctioned a single U.S. lobby card from this movie), but it is also one of only three French western posters from the 1920s we have ever auctioned! Condition: very good. The poster has pinholes, tiny tears, and tiny paper loss in parts of the borders, with some smudges and scuffs scattered in the image, but generally, it has probably survived in as good condition as one could hope, given its size, age, and rarity.
