An Original Vintage Linenbacked German Poster (measures 24" x 34 1/4" [61 x 87 cm]) (Learn More)

Der Wolf Und Die Sieben Geissein (literally translates to "The Wolf and the Seven Little Kids"), the 1939 Ferdinand Diehl German animated animation puppet short (about a wolf trying to eat some young goats, based on the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm). Note that Ferdinand Diehl and his brother Hermann made puppet films starting in the 1930s. Hermann would create the puppets and Ferdinand would direct and handle animation. From the late 1930s to the 1940s, they made several films based on Grimm fairy tales for the Reich Office for Educational Films (later known as Reich Institute for Film and Image in Science and Education). Up until the 1960s, their works were part of the standard repertoire of afternoon cinema screenings or 16mm screenings in schools. Probably their most popular creation is Mecki the hedgehog, a household character especially through the 1950s and mascot of Hoerzu TV and radio magazine.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this German poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this German movie!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was made with tiny perforation holes around three sides of the image, no doubt so that one could choose to eliminate the borders and the small credits at the bottom. It had tiny creases and slight separation along parts of the folds. The poster appears to have darkened somewhat. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
