Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More)

The Lone Defender, the 1934 Richard Thorpe canine German Shepherd dog action adventure cowboy western ("Mystery... romance... adventure... Rin-Tin-Tin's greatest picture"; "With an all star cast"; a feature-length re-edit of the 1930 serial of the same name) starring Rin Tin Tin (most famous of the movie dog stars, he was Warner Bros.' #1 star in their early lean years and the earnings from his movies kept the studio in the black!), Walter Miller, June Marlowe, Buzz Barton, and Joseph Swickard. Note that because this "feature version" was made four years after the serial version, and because it was highly edited, we are listing it as a separate entry. However, note that there is somewhat of a "mystery" about this feature version. The IMDb clearly says it was not made until 1934, four years after the serial, but we have seen lobby cards that appear to be from the feature version (because they have no serial identification and say "A Mascot Picture" instead of "A Mascot Serial"), and yet, they look incredibly similar to the 1930 serial lobby cards, right down to the hand coloring look to them! So it is possible that the IMDb is wrong and that the feature version came out in 1930 (and possibly was re-released in 1934, which would explain the IMDb's mistake). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
