Artist: M.M.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this Italian poster. The buyer of that poster has now reconsigned it to us, so this is still the only example of this poster we have ever auctioned!

Note that this is a rare horizontal Italian one-panel poster. It measures the same as the vertical oriented images, but has a horizontal orientation, much like a British quad. In the first few years after World War II, Italian posters were not always standard, and some had unusual sizes, or as in the case of this poster, a different orientation. By the early 1950s, the standard Italian sizes had evolved, and you rarely ever saw a non-standard size poster. Also note that Italian posters from the first few years after World War II are among the most rare posters there are. These are likely so rare because there were still major paper shortages in Italy right after World War II, and few posters were printed, and most were recycled. This is an extremely rare first release Italian poster from 1946.

Note that this poster ships in a very long tube (at least 33" long, but possibly 50" long or more). Therefore the shipping for this poster will be more than that for a poster that ships in a tube 32" or shorter, and possibly much more. Please bear this added shipping expense in mind before bidding on this poster. You can tell how long of a tube this poster needs to ship in by looking at the shorter dimension of its length and width and then adding 4" to that (so a 47" x 63" poster will need to ship in a 51" long tube).

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had tears and areas of paper loss on parts of several folds and tears, paper loss, and stains around the edges, more so in the bottom blank border. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did little restoration to the defects described above.
