An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Anna May Wong was a Chinese-American actress from the 1910s to the 1960s. Some of her movies include: Shanghai Express, Thief of Bagdad, Impact, Across to Singapore, and Piccadilly. Unfortunately, due to the prejudices of the time, the studios cast white actresses over her, even in Asian roles, having the white actresses perform in "yellowface", which meant that Miss Wong would almost always play a friend or enemy of the white actress in the lead Asian role! She passed away in 1961 at the age of 56. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Anna May Wong (she also signed her name in Chinese below her regular signature)! Also note that this still measures 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm]. Note that our consignor purchased a collection of autographed stills that were collected by Leonard Sorgi, who was a unit manager for ABC for shows like The Soupy Sales Show, The Jerry Mahoney Show, and many others. He was also Unit Manager for the Academy Awards for a number of years, and during his long and varied career, he met many celebrities and obtained autographs from them in person (often personalized to him).
