An Advertising Poster (measures 26 1/4" x 39 1/4" [67 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) RC Cola (short for Royal Crown Cola) is a brand of cola-flavored soft drink developed in 1934. In 1905 Claud A. Hatcher (partially because of a feud between him and the local Coca-Cola salesman) started producing soft drinks under the name Union Bottling Works. The first product in the Royal Crown line was Royal Crown Ginger Ale followed by Royal Crown Strawberry, and Royal Crown Root Beer. In 1910 the company was renamed Chero-Cola and then Nehi Corp in 1925. In 1934, Rufus Kamm reformulated an existing flavor and it was re-released as Royal Crown Cola. in 1955, the company was renamed to Royal Crown Company after the success of its RC Cola brand. In 1984, RC Cola accounted for approximately 4-5% of soft drink sales in the United States, behind only Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, and Seven Up. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Most of these items absolutely can only be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. Some of them might SEEM like they could be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet, but they can't. The reason these items are in this auction is specifically because they CAN'T be rolled (because rolling any of them would damage them, even if they somehow can be rolled). So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item when ready for shipping), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. IN THE CASE OF EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, THE SHIPPING COST WILL BE VERY HIGH, SO PLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THAT ADDED SHIPPING AMOUNT, AND INCLUDE THAT AMOUNT IN WHAT YOU BID (so if you would pay $150, but the shipping is likely $100, then only bid $50). And those who live outside the U.S. and who do not have a U.S. address to ship to SHOULD NOT BID AT ALL ON EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, BECAUSE THEY COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO SEND OUTSIDE THE U.S. Condition: good to very good. The poster was likely displayed near the outdoors and it has scuff marks scattered in various areas. Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid. Learn More about condition grades
