An Original Vintage Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Just a Moment Please, the circa 1920s glass slide. This was a "helpful instruction" glass slide that was shown along with coming attraction glass slides between movies at a 1920s movie theater (we have seen these in movie scenes showing old time theaters, but it is likely that very few of these survive). In the case of this particular slide, it was used during the frequent occurrence of the time where the film would literally break (or the projector would overheat, or a bulb would blow), and everyone in the theater would be sitting in darkness and getting angry, and they would put this slide up to try to make them less upset! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Important Added Info: SUPER IMPORTANT! The image on this slide looks like it does in our image when it is projected, but when you look at the slide itself, it is extremely dark, because it is primarily dark colors. SO DON'T BID ON THIS SLIDE UNLESS YOU PLAN ON PROJECTING IT, BECAUSE IT IS NOT ATTRACTIVE TO LOOK AT WHEN IT IS NOT ILLUMINATED. Also note that we have seen more than one example of this slide, with different images. This one has a wonderful image of a very early projector, along with an image of a young man, no doubt to try to gain sympathy from the audience! Also note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: good. The tape is missing from the left and right. As noted above, the image on the slide is quite dark and needs to be illuminated to be appreciated. Learn More about condition grades
