An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Miss Nobody, the 1926 Lambert Hillyer silent romantic hobo life cross-dressing melodrama (about the daughter of a millionaire who learns that her father has died and she is completely broke and stranded in San Francisco; she gets men's clothes and takes up with a group of hobos; the leader of the hobos sees through her disguise and starts to romance her; she suspects his motives and thinks he is a thief, but then she learns he is actually an author who is researching a book about hobos!) starring Anna Q. Nilsson, Walter Pidgeon, Louise Fazenda, Mitchell Lewis, Arthur Stone, and Clyde Cooke. Note that this movie bears a lot in common with the movie "Beggars of Life", made two years later, which featured cult star Louise Brooks also posing as a male while with a gang of hobos! Also note that this was Walter Pidgeon's fourth movie and his first starring role! He was born in 1897, and started making silent movies in the mid 1920s, but he had limited success. He had a wonderful speaking voice, but that did not lead to stardom in early sound movies. Finally, in 1937, at the age of 40, MGM put him under contract, but still limited him to supporting roles. His "big break" finally came in 1941 with "How Green Was My Valley", and he became one of MGM's top stars of the early 1940s (no doubt helped by so many other male stars being away at war). He stayed with MGM for the remainder of his career. Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
