An Original Vintage Unfolded Heavy Stock Silk Screen German Stage Play Poster (measures 76 1/2" x 79 1/2" [194 x 202 cm]) (Learn More) Heiner Muller was an East German dramatist, poet, writer, essayist and theatre director from the 1950s to the 1990s. Described as "the theatre's greatest living poet" since Samuel Beckett, Muller is arguably the most important German dramatist of the 20th century after Bertolt Brecht. His "enigmatic, fragmentary pieces" are a significant contribution to postmodern drama and post-dramatic theatre. Some of his works include: Germania Tod in Berlin, Der Auftrag and Die Hamletmaschine. Muller passed away in 1995 at the age of 66. Artist: Boris Bucan Important Added Info: Note that this poster was printed in 6 sections and designed to create a single poster when together. Note that silkscreen (also known as screen printing) is a printing technique whereby a mesh is used to transfer ink onto a poster. Only one color is printed at a time, so several screens must be used to produce a multicolored design, and it is a laborious technique because it is traditionally all done by hand. Because of the rich thickness of the layer of color on the paper and the resulting depth and brilliance achieved through silkscreen printing, this technique was preferred by many artists throughout many cultures and periods. Condition: very good. There are a few light scuff marks scattered in just a few areas (typical of silkscreen posters, especially of this size). It is otherwise in pretty nice condition.
