Date Sold 2/25/2010Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Kraftbacked Folded French Large Movie Poster (31x47; measures 31 1/4" x 45") (Learn More) Orphan of the Wilderness (released in the U.S. as "Wild Innocence"), the 1936 Ken G. Hall Australian outdoors animal sports boxing kangaroo circus adventure pseudo-documentary ("Gloriously refreshing romance amid the grandeur of Australia's great outdoors!"; many years ahead of its time!; about the mistreatment of the wild animals in Australia; the movie begins with information about several types of native Australian animals, and then tells the story of Chut, a kangaroo that is forced to entertain people by boxing human beings in a circus, and at the end of the movie, Chut's original owner manages to rescue him!) starring Chut (the kangaroo), Gwen Monroe (billed as "Wendy Munro"), Brian Abbot, Ethel Saker, Harry Abdy, and Joe Valli. Note that first release Australian poster material from this movie is incredibly rare. We knew this movie was released in France, because we had seen a French poster, and that it was released in the U.S., because we had seen a U.S. lobby card set, but we had never seen any other first release material from this movie until 2014, when we were first consigned an example of the first release Australian one-sheet! Artist: Charlotte Ferra Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great! Condition: good. After the poster was mounted onto the kraft paper, the borders of the kraft paper were folded over the front of the borders of the poster and glued down. There is a censor snipe glued to the bottom right and a censor stamp in the top left. A restorer can remove the poster from the kraft paper and properly linenback it, after which it will look great!
