Date Sold 11/24/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A Vintage Hardcover Book (measures 9 1/2" x 12 1/2" [24 x 32 cm]; 450 pages) (Learn More) National Vaudeville Artists Yearbook, the 1925 hardcover illustrated book promoting an annual benefit which took place on May 3rd, and featuring images and information on vaudeville entertainers. What makes this very large book (basically like a coffee table book, and with 450 pages!) so great, is that it is filled with ads from current vaudeville performers, "congratulating the NVA", and some of those vaudeville performers who took out ads are people who went on to MUCH greater fame later! In this volume (this was an annual event), there are ads from Ted Healy (before he had found the Three Stooges, and he was in an act with his wife Betty!), Larry Semon (who had just had the role of his career as the Scarecrow in the silent version of The Wizard of Oz), Jay C. Flippen (who would have a successful career as a character actor in movies in the 1940s and 1950s, and few people know he had a very successful vaudeville career before that), Harry Houdini (who had been a vaudeville performer, likely the most successful ever!), Bill Robinson (when he was in an act with his wife, "Mrs. Bill", before he acquired the 'Bojangles' nickname), Ted Lewis ("Is Everybody Happy"), Julian Eltinge (most famous of all the impersonators of women), Sophie Tucker (when she was young), Pert Kelton (who, years later, would be the first Alice in The Honeymooners), Olsen & Johnson (the great comedy team), and Fred Hartsook (who was a major Hollywood photographer and had taken the images of many of the people in this book). And there are lots more images we did not picture. What an amazing book! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this giant book was for an annual event, but surely very few of these books survive! We are currently auctioning this book and also the one from 1927, and we have never auctioned either before! Also note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads. Note: We have 13 images of the books in this set, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 13 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 3. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
