An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 24 1/2" x 39" [62 x 99 cm]) (Learn More) Honor of the Family, the 1931 Lloyd Bacon romantic love triangle melodrama ("Based on the play by Emile Fabre" "From the story by Balzac"; also based on the novel 'Cousin Pons' by Honore de Balzac; like all Balzac stories, a sweeping and complicated story of Hungarian royalty and a rich man has a mistress, and he asks his nephew to protect her from other lovers, and over time, the nephew kills two of the lovers, and at the end, the rich man gives his nephew a blank check and asks him to return with his mistress, but instead, the nephew and the mistress run off together, spending the uncle's money!) starring Bebe Daniels, Warren William (in his third credited role!), Alan Mowbray, Frederick Kerr, and Allan 'Rocky' Lane. Note that Warren William had served in World War I, and afterwards became a Broadway stage actor. He appeared in two silent movies in 1922 and 1923 under his real name of Warren Krech, but he quickly returned to New York and starred in many Broadway plays, aided by his wonderful speaking voice. In 1931, he starred in this, his first sound movie, and he remained in Hollywood, becoming one of Warner Bros.' top stars in the 1930s. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning (and we have only auctioned three lobby cards and a few smaller items such as glass slides and stills for the film, but NO posters for the movie whatsoever until we were consigned this one-sheet!). Note also that this one-sheet has been trimmed and it now measures 24 1/2" x 39" [62 x 99 cm]. Condition: fair to good. Parts of the blank borders were trimmed off but only blank white paper was affected. There is a tear in the center of the poster that affects Daniels' hair and cheek but there is not paper loss on the tear. There are tears in the right of William's head that extend into his neck to the right of this hair with some tiny paper loss in that tear. There are many marks on the back at left and some in his face. There are smudges and stains around the edges. Obviously this incredibly rare poster can be "rescued" through restoration, and the poster is "mostly all there", and after proper restoration it will display wonderfully, but bear the above in mind and look closely at our super-sized image before bidding on this poster.
