What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had pretty minor wear on the folds, and it had some scuffs and smudges scattered throughout, more so in the top center. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was backed, and restoration was performed, but after it was backed, it was very roughly handled, and it acquired a number of tiny areas of surface paper loss scattered in the middle to upper left, plus, more importantly, it became torn in the middle of the right border, causing the poster to separate from the linen, and causing tears and surface paper loss in that area (see our image).
