An Autographed 3" x 5" [8 x 13 cm] Index Card (Learn More)

Ron Howard was born Ronald William Howard in Duncan, Oklahoma in 1954. His parents were both actors who had had minor success, and Ronny first appeared in a movie at 18 months of age! He got regular roles starting at 4, and when he was six he was cast as Opie Taylor on The Andy Griffith Show, and he stayed with that classic role until 1968. Afterwards he mostly did TV appearances, and one of them was on Love, American Style, in a segment called "Love and the Happy Days", and in it Ronny played Richie Cunningham, and Marion Ross played his mom, but Harold Gould played his dad. In 1973, Ronny played one of the lead roles in George Lucas' masterpiece, American Graffiti. The following year, Garry Marshall, who had written the above 1972 Love, American Style segment, rounded up the same cast (except for Gould, who was replaced by Tom Bosley, and he added a minor character Arthur 'Fonzie' Fonzarelli [who would later virtually take over the show]), and that became the hit show Happy Days. While he was starring in that show, Howard (who had wanted to make his own movies since he was young) directed and starred in Eat My Dust (now "Ron") and Grand Theft Auto, and also had a major role in John Wayne's last movie, The Shootist. In 1982, as Happy Days was winding down, Howard directed the well received comedy Night Shift, which starred Henry Winkler, but it was unknown Michael Keaton who was most noticed. Two years later, when he left Happy Days, Howard directed Splash and the following year Cocoon, and he was one of America's most successful directors. He has since directed 18 more movies, among them Parenthood, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film), and Frost/Nixon (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film). But for all his great success as a director, for most older Americans he will always first and foremost be Opie Taylor or Ritchie Cunningham!
Important Added Info: This index card has been personally autographed (signed) by Ron Howard! The index card could be matted with a vintage or repro still and framed together to make a cool display!

Note that this autographed item is part of a remarkable collection. In each of our last several all-signed auctions, we auctioned hundreds of items from this collection and now we are auctioning 55 signed index cards (plus 209 signed photos and miscellaneous other signed items that have a different note on those)!
In the 1970s, our consignor was a teacher who taught a film class, and he also part-time ran the local movie theater (and he saved all the presskits from the movies the theater showed).
Starting in the late 1970s through the late 1980s, he wrote to famous celebrities, and enclosed an 8x10 from his collection (or sometimes a different size photo or other item), and he wrote a literate personalized letter, talking about his work as a film teacher, and discussing his favorite movie by that star.
See our other note with the 209 signed items from this consignor for more about how he acquired them. But in additional to sending photos and other items with images of the star, he would also enclose an index card, and mention that the star could sign the index card if they didn't want to sign the photo. He found that many, many stars would sign both! This auction is for one of 55 index cards which he received back from the celebrities who he had written to.
He of course does not have any "Certificates of Authenticity", but he only kept ones he felt were surely authentic, and those are the ones we are auctioning. However, bidders can certainly compare the signatures to known examples on the internet to judge for themselves.

As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.

Condition: very good.
