An Original Vintage Theatrical Deluxe 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Key Book Still (Learn More) The Devil Commands, the 1941 Edward Dmytryk communicating-with-the-dead mad scientist horror melodrama ("When the Devil Commands Karloff Obeys..!"; "Monstrous master of horror.. Enters Satan's service!"; "Steep Yourself for the iron hand of horror!"; "Karloff turns killer in a horror-crammed thriller!"; a wild story of mad scientist Boris Karloff's wife dying, and he discovers that one of his machines can pick up her brain waves even after her death, and he is therefore convinced that there must a way to communicate with the dead; he finds a medium conducting a seance, and even though she is a fake, Karloff thinks she can help him in his work, and he builds suits that hold dead bodies that kind of look like space suits, and with electricity, he is able to somewhat revive them, but before he can complete his experiments, he is killed) starring Boris Karloff, Richard Fiske, Amanda Duff, Anne Revere, Ralph Penney, Cy Schindell, and Shirley Warde. Note that this movie is mostly forgotten today, but most viewers say it is a really underrated B-horror movie gem, especially thanks to the performances of Karloff and Anne Revere (as the fake medium), and thanks to the really crazy seance sequence at the end with the dead bodies in the weird suits! Many studios spent extra money to have their most special photos, the key book stills, either backed with linen or printed on a heavy paper, both of which enhanced their durability. They had an extra 1" at the left or top, with punch holes, because of how they were stored. Key book stills are far more rare than regular stills, which has increased their popularity among collectors, since only a few keybooks were manufactured per film, and a key book still is guaranteed to be authentic. Someone trimmed away the extra 1" from the bottom of the still. Condition: good to very good. The bottom 1" was neatly trimmed off (see above). There is very slight discoloration in the right background, caused by the snipe glued to the back, but it is not very noticeable or distracting. Otherwise, the still is in pretty nice condition!
