An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Half-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 21" x 28 1/4") (Learn More) Touch of Evil, the classic 1958 Orson Welles Mexico drugs crooked policeman revenge crime film noir thriller ("The story of the strangest vengeance ever planned!"; based on the novel 'Badge of Evil' by Whit Masterson) starring Charlton Heston, Janet Leigh, Orson Welles, Joseph Calleia, Akim Tamiroff, Marlene Dietrich ("She felt his touch - once, and never forgot it!"), Zsa Zsa Gabor (Dietrich & Gabor billed as "'With Guest Stars' Marlene Dietrich, Zsa Zsa Gabor"), Joanna Moore, Akim Tamiroff, Valentin de Vargas, and Victor Millan. Note that this movie was re-released in 1998, finally re-edited to satisfy the changes Orson Welles requested in a memo he wrote to the studio right after its first release when he found out the film had been cut. It took 40 years, but Welles' original vision was mostly restored. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this half-sheet measures 21" x 28 1/2". Please do not bid on this poster thinking it is 22" x 28". Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster was never folded. There was 1/2" trimmed from both the top and bottom blank borders (only blank white paper). There were many creases, scuffs, small tears, smudges, and small areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster, slightly extending into the edges of the image. The central image area was in pretty nice condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, but the restorer did not replace the missing 1/2" of blank paper at the top and bottom (it is not at all noticeable, and of course, it would not show if the poster were framed).
