Back Street, the 1941 Robert Stevenson romantic melodrama (based on the novel by Fannie Hurst; about a woman who intends to marry a man, but circumstances prevent that from happening, and they separate for many years, and reunite when the man is married, but the woman has a "back street" affair with him) starring Charles Boyer, Margaret Sullavan, Richard Carlson, Frank McHugh, Tim Holt, Samuel S. Hinds, Esther Dale, and Nell O'Day. Note that this movie was a remake of the 1932 movie of the same name with Irene Dunne and John Boles, and was itself remade in 1961 by producer Ross Hunter, with Susan Hayward and John Gavin.
