Cronin") starring Dirk Bogarde (in the title role as Jose), John Whiteley, Michael Hordern, Cyril Cusack, Maureen Swanson, Josephine Griffin, Lyndon Brook, Bernard Lee, and Geoffrey Keen. Note that A.J. Cronin was a doctor who had health problems in 1930. He wrote a book called "Hatter's Castle" in 1931, and it was so successful that he stopped practicing medicine and wrote a series of books, all centering around doctors, including "The Citadel" and "Keys of the Kingdom", all of which were made into movies!
