An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Style A Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) Frank Capra's It's a Wonderful Life, the classic 1946 Frank Capra (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) banking family fantasy romantic melodrama ("Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! How could it be anything else!"; "They're going steady... straight to your heart!"; "It's a Wonderful Love!"; "Frank Capra's wonderfilm..."; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a man at the brink of suicide, and an angel appears who shows him all the good that he did, by showing him how his world would have been if he had never been born, and that renews his faith) starring James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart; nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; "America's Favorite Feller..."; as George Bailey), Donna Reed ("Jimmy's Favorite Girl..."; as Mary Bailey), Lionel Barrymore (as Mr. Potter), Thomas Mitchell (as Uncle Billy), Henry Travers (best remembered for playing Clarence the angel in this movie!), Beulah Bondi (as James Stewart's mom), Ward Bond (as Bert), Frank Faylen (as Ernie), Gloria Grahame (in a memorable role as Violet, the "bad" girl), H.B. Warner (as Mr. Gower), Carl 'Alfalfa' Switzer (as Freddie), Stanley Andrews, Sheldon Leonard (as Nick), William Edmunds, Jimmy Hawkins, Samuel S. Hinds, Frank Hagney, Karolyn Grimes, Virginia Patton, and Todd Karns NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that while everyone loves this most favorite Christmas movie, most people are disappointed when they discover that almost every U.S. poster for the movie has virtually the same artwork, that of James Stewart lifting Donna Reed, against an empty white background. This style A half-sheet contains that image in the right of the poster, but also contains great close up art of Stewart kissing Reed at the climax of the movie, against a distinctive purple background. This poster is extremely rare, and I have only seen one other example of it! Also note that this poster has never been machine folded! Most half-sheet posters were folded once horizontally and once vertically right off of the printing press. It is very difficult to find an unfolded example of most half-sheets, especially from before 1970! Condition: very good to fine. The poster was never machine folded, but it has a faint "bend" down the center (it is extremely faint and barely noticeable from the front). There is a 1/2" tear near the middle of the right border that was repaired with a piece of white tape from the back, and a 1/4" tear near the middle of the left border that was repaired the same way. There was a series of tiny tears and some tiny paper loss across the top blank border, with tiny brown stains in the very right of the top border. There are a total of eight tiny pieces of white tape on the back of those top border tiny tears. Other than the above, the poster is in really excellent condition, and the colors are extremely bright. I can well understand someone leaving this great poster exactly as it is, or I could equally understand someone choosing to paperback the poster, but either way, I am envious of the new owner of this poster!
