An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Alias Jimmy Valentine, the 1928 Jack Conway crime thriller ("A great talking picture!";"From the play by Paul Armstrong"; based on a story by O. Henry; about a reformed safe cracker who has obtained a job at a bank, and a romance with the bank owner's daughter, but then a detective discovers his past, and might ruin him, but then a little girl is locked in the bank vault, and the hero rescues the girl, even though it will likely cause him to go to prison, but the detective recognizes his good deed, and lets him off) starring William Haines (in the title role as Jimmy Valentine), Lionel Barrymore, Leila Hyams, Karl Dane, and Tully Marshall. Note that this was MGM's first "talking" movie, and they billed it as "A great talking picture!", but actually, the picture is 90% silent, with just a few inserted talking sequences!. Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving complete copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: fair to good. The still was used in a newspaper or magazine and there are crop marks around the edges and paint enhancements within the image (so it would show up better in the printed article). After it was used, someone cut out the article from the newspaper and glued it to the back of the still, which caused it to become rippled in that area (see our image).
