An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Toonerville Blues, the 1922 Ira M. Lowry silent comedy short ("'The Toonersville Trolley That Meets All Trains"'; one of the "Toonerville Comedies by Fontaine Fox") starring Dan Mason ("as the Skipper"). This was one of 17 movies that were released between 1920 and 1922, all based on this then-classic comic strip. The strip was called "Toonerville Folks" (but was also known as "The Toonersville Trolly That Meets All Trains"), and it began in 1908. It was based on the then-new phenomenon of "suburbs", which were first starting to become important outside of large cities. Most of these early suburbs were quite rural, and trains ran from the city out to the suburb, but when you got off the train, there would be a local trolley that would take you to your destination in that suburb. In this strip, the trolley was run by the grizzly old Skipper, no doubt a former sailor. The strip ran until 1955! If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. The poster has separation at all three crossfolds, with tiny paper loss at the middle crossfold, and paper loss at the bottom crossfold. It has pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges and is somewhat fragile (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
