Date Sold 12/21/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Mini Movie Window Card (WC; measures 8" x 14" [20 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Howard Hawks' His Girl Friday, the classic 1940 Howard Hawks newspaper journalism romantic love triangle comedy ("They're at each other's throats... when they're not in each other's arms!"; "The year's most uproarious romance!"; "I demand my rights... Life... Liberty... and the Pursuit of Rosalind Russell!"; "She learned about men from him!"; "Screen play by Charles Lederer"; "Based on a play by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur"; interestingly, this was a re-make of the classic 1931 newspaper movie, "The Front Page", except this movie had the very clever idea of re-casting one of the male leads as a female, and since the character in the original was named "Hildy Johnson", they were even able to keep the same name!) starring Cary Grant, Rosalind Russell, Ralph Bellamy, Gene Lockhart, Porter Hall, Marion Martin, John Qualen, Roscoe Karns, Cliff Edwards, Frank Jenks, Regis Toomey, Helen Mack, and Abner Biberman NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this mini window card! What IS gelbacking? Learn More Condition: good to very good. The mini window card had darkened. Someone trimmed off all four blank borders, including the top blank area. Overall, the mini window card was in good condition prior to restoration. A talented restorer gel backed the mini window card (meaning they backed the card onto a gel material) and they replaced the missing blank borders, and then removed the gel backing, so that the mini window card still exactly looks and feels like an original mini window card (and it is!), with no backing at all. You can tell that there has been restoration in the borders and that the card has darkened, but otherwise, it displays pretty well (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
