eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 1j0654 ONLY WAY glass slide 1925 uncredited version of Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities! Date Sold 1/18/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) The Only Way, the 1925 Herbert Wilcox English silent France/England historical romantic love triangle melodrama (an adaptation of "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens, but given the changed title and the fact that Dickens is not credited, makes us think that this was an unauthorized adaptation) starring John Martin Harvey (billed as "Martin Harvey"; as Sydney Carton), Madge Stuart, Betty Faire, Ben Webster, J. Fisher White, and Frederick Cooper. Note that there had been four silent movies prior to this one based on this classic Dickens novel (about a man who gives his life so that the woman he loves can be with the man she loves), and of course, it was remade 10 years later with Ronald Colman and Donald Woods in the lead roles. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper items from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a single lobby card from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this glass slide! Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good. There are stains on the holder but the slide is in excellent condition! Learn More about condition grades
