An Original Vintage Theatrical French Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 9 1/2" x 12 1/2" [24 x 32 cm]; 12 pages) (Learn More)

Matricule 33 (literally translates to "Number 33"), the 1933 Karl Anton French romantic World War I (WWI) spy espionage melodrama (about a soldier who deserts the French army in World War I and goes to Germany and becomes a spy for them, but he is secretly a double agent spying on them for the French; things get complicated when he falls in love with a female German spy who discovers his secret but then betrays her country because she loves him) starring Andre Luguet, Edwige Feuillere, Abel Tarride, Camille Bert, Marcel Barency (billed as "Barencey"), Mona Doll, Abel Jacquin, Roger Maxime, Rene Stern, Fernand Mailly (billed as "Mailly"), and Gisele Mars. Note that this movie was made by the French branch of Fox Film, and we would think that they intended for it to have a U.S. release, or perhaps for them to make an English language version of it, but neither occurred, likely because of the Great Depression. As we said, it appears this movie was never released in the U.S. by any company. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this French pressbook, which is a "country of origin" item for this French movie! Also note that, unlike later French pressbooks, this French pressbook is much like a U.S. pressbook and DOES include poster images.

Condition: good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. There is much light staining scattered on the covers.
