Note that this film premiered in England in October of 1957, and had a very limited release in the U.S. in December (to qualify for the Academy Awards), but the U.S. wide-release took place in 1958. Also, note that Pierre Boulle is credited as the screenwriter and won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay despite his lack of involvement in the movie itself (he wrote the novel the movie is based on). The actual screenwriters were Carl Foreman and Michael Wilson, but they were blacklisted and ineligible for screen credit. In 1984, the Academy retroactively awarded the Oscar to Wilson and Foreman. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some tiny bits of paper loss on parts of several folds. It had an extra horizontal fold just above Holden's head. It had pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
