Taut! Terrific!"; the screenwriter, Anthony Veiller, came up with a "prequel" to the classic short story, and he devised a very interesting and very believable back-story that would explain the actions of the characters in Hemingway's story) starring Burt Lancaster (in his first screen role; billed as "introducing Burt Lancaster"), Ava Gardner, Edmond O'Brien, Albert Dekker, Sam Levene, Virginia Christine, Charles D. Brown, William Conrad, Charles McGraw, Jack Lambert, Vera Lewis, Harry Hayden, Jeff Corey, and Jack Cheatham NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we don't know if this poster has the same image as the first Belgian release poster, because we have never auctioned one. If you want a Belgian poster on this movie, it seems like this is about your only choice. The last example of this poster we auctioned sold for $360! Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster has light creases along portions of the folds and there are two very light diagonal creases that extend from the crossfold to Lancaster's nose at left and right eye.
