Fat City, the 1972 John Huston boxing sports melodrama ("Screenplay by Leonard Gardner based on his book"; about an over-the-hill boxer, his beautiful girlfriend, and a young up-and-coming boxer; the movie is very realistic and low-key, and director Huston was applauded for making a "modern" movie vastly different from his 1940s classics!) starring Stacy Keach, Jeff Bridges (in his fourth credited movie role!), Susan Tyrrell (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Candy Clark, and Nicholas Colasanto
