An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Curly Top, the 1935 Irving Cummings orphan juvenile musical melodrama starring Shirley Temple ("She Sings, She Dances, She Charms"), John Boles, Rochelle Hudson, Jane Darwell, and Rafaela Ottiano. Note that this movie was based on a play and novel by Jean Webster from 1912. It was made into a silent movie in 1919 starring Mary Pickford, and was remade as a sound film in 1931 with Janet Gaynor, and then was significantly altered so that Shirley Temple could play the lead in this movie, and then was remade with Fred Astaire and Leslie Caron in 1955. Obviously, it is extremely unlikely that this plot will ever be used again, because in today's world, a story about a middle aged man falling in love with an 18 year old that he "adopts" is very inappropriate! Also note that this was the last movie Shirley Temple made for Fox Films. Her next movie was made after it merged with 20th Century Pictures, and became 20th Century-Fox. During that time, Fox's number one star, Will Rogers died in a plane crash, and surprisingly, Shirley Temple became the studio's new number one star! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: NOTE: Most lobby cards from before 1940 (and some from after that date) did not have individual lobby card numbers like later lobby cards (those printed after the advent of NSS in 1940) did. So we have arbitrarily assigned numbers to unnumbered lobby cards, only when we sell more than one from a set, so that there is a convenient way to tell different scenes apart. (Note that we do not use #1, because this is commonly used to signify the title card). The exception to this is sets of cards that did not have title cards. Condition: good to very good. There are tears and tiny areas of paper loss in the right blank border and an area of paper loss in the right of the bottom blank border. The card was in a frame for many years, and the back of the card has darkened, and there are stains and tiny areas of surface paper loss. But the card looks great from the front, except for the border defects described above, and some minor smudges around the edges! Note that this card is completely unrestored and has never had any restoration of any kind, nor has there been any tape on the front or back of the card. The back of the card is completely blank, with no writing or stamps. Learn More about condition grades
