She started as a child actress in the 1940s, became a teen actress in the 1950s, and became a major star from the 1960s to the 1990s. Some of her movies include: Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), North and South, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), A Place in the Sun, Giant, Jane Eyre, Father of the Bride, National Velvet, Suddenly, Last Summer (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Raintree County (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Butterfield 8 (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), and the "Lassie" films. Some consider her the most beautiful brunette actress of all time! She passed away in 2011 at the age of 79. Important Added Info: Note that this photograph was taken by Henry Wynberg, who worked for Peter Borsari. Peter C. Borsari was born in Switzerland in 1939, and starting in 1965, he became one of Hollywood's greatest celebrity photographers, and he was invited to all of Hollywood's premier events, where he was given access to take photographs of celebrities "behind the scenes", and he often contributed to People magazine, starting with the first issue, and having photographs in virtually every issue until the late 1990s, including many covers. This photo (not taken by Borsari, but by one of his employees, Henry Wynberg) comes from his personal archive and is a first generation photo from when it was taken. It was used to lease the image to magazines (the photo would be sent to the magazine and the back often had credit and return information for Mr. Borsari).
